Jonathan Karp
Co-Founder
I am a senior advocate with more than three decades of leadership experience spanning multi-site senior living operations and luxury hospitality.
Originally from Connecticut, I have proudly called the Coachella Valley and Joshua Tree region home for over 14 years. My career began in luxury hotels, where I held leadership roles across the United States, developing a reputation for operational excellence, team leadership, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
I later transitioned into senior living, serving as an Executive Director before advancing to Regional Vice President, where I oversaw multiple communities across California and Arizona. In these roles, I led multi-community operations building high-performing teams focused on delivering quality care and service.
My professional path has been deeply shaped by personal experience. While supporting my aging mother through significant health challenges, I navigated the complexities of senior care firsthand. This experience gave me a profound understanding of the emotional and logistical challenges families face and strengthened my commitment to providing clear, informed guidance.
As Founder of NewLeaf Senior Living Solutions, I combine operational expertise with a service-driven approach to support seniors and their families. My work is centered on delivering trusted guidance, simplifying complex decisions, and helping families identify the right care solutions with confidence.
I am a certified RCFE Administrator (Retirement Care Facility for the Elderly) and proudly serve as a Committee Member of the High Desert Memory Recreation Center currently under development in the Morongo Basin.
Krista Monahan

My journey in senior living began over a decade ago at the bedside as a caregiver, where I discovered not just a career, but a calling. While earning my graduate degree, I continued working across various roles, gaining a deep understanding of the challenges seniors and their families face, and the impact of compassionate support.
As a Sales Counselor, I found my true passion in guiding families through emotional and complex decisions. I later expanded my impact as a National Sales Specialist and Regional Sales Director, supporting communities across California and the Midwest, coaching teams, and helping families navigate critical transitions.
My commitment to this work is both professional and personal. After navigating the process of placing my own mother into an assisted living community, I witnessed firsthand the profound transformation in her quality of life—an experience that further deepened my purpose and perspective.
This passion led me to co-found NewLeaf Senior Living Solutions with my longtime colleague, Jonathan, with the goal of providing not just guidance, but genuine care and reassurance.
Today, I’m honored to use my experience and dedication to help seniors and their families find a place to call home, bringing clarity, comfort, and support when it matters most.
